Googling how to cope with work related stress? Its time to talk
If these searches feel familiar, it can be a sign that work stress, burnout or anxiety has been building for a while.
I am Niall, a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy registered Counsellor.
Based in Leeds I work online with people across the UK to help them make sense of what is going on in their lives, and what to do next.
No pressure. No hard sell. Just compassionate, skilled, and consistent support when you need it.
Does any of this feel familiar?
You might feel restless, overthink everything, or struggle to relax even when nothing is wrong. It can feel like your mind just will not switch off.
Start feeling calmerYou may feel flat, disconnected, or not recognise yourself. Things that used to feel easy may now feel heavy, draining, or hard to enjoy.
Feel like yourself againEven after resting, you still feel drained. Life may feel like something you are simply getting through rather than really living.
Get your energy backPressure, expectations, or constant demands may be affecting your mood, your sleep, and your ability to switch off properly.
Take back control at workYou might replay conversations, worry about the future, or get stuck in loops of “what if” thinking that are hard to quieten.
Quiet your mindYou know something does not feel right, but you cannot quite put your finger on it. You may feel lost, unsure, or unable to move forward.
Make sense of thingsWhether you are experiencing these issues right now, are recovering from problems in the past, or are looking to take proactive steps to safeguard your health in the future then talking with a skilled, independent and compassionate therapist can really help.

Why work with me
Hi, I’m Niall, a BACP registered counsellor (registration number 413944) providing person-centred online therapy across the UK from my base in Leeds.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a lawyer and later in policy and leadership roles within central government and the NHS in England. I was also a workplace coach and mentor. These experiences continue to inform my understanding of:
professional pressure
workplace stress and burnout
high-responsibility roles
I have a first hand understanding of the pressures, demands and loneliness which can come from being the person in charge whom everyone is relying on.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy (Distinction) from the University of Leeds, where I worked both online and face to face with clients.
Online therapy for stress at work
I work with managers, leaders and professionals across the UK, from my base in Leeds, on issues like pressure at work, burnout, and anxiety linked to their role.
Online therapy means:
You can talk openly, without worrying about judgement
Sessions fit around your work and schedule
No travel, no waiting rooms, complete privacy
I work in a person-centred way. Person-centred therapy is a well-established counselling approach that focuses on understanding your experience without judgement or pressure.
Rather than telling you what to do, I offer a supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly, helping you make sense of what’s going on and find a way forward that feels right for you.
Alongside this, I bring structure and focus to help you make meaningful progress at a pace that feels comfortable.
What we can work on
Work stress and burnout
Modern work and life pressures can build over time, leading to chronic stress or burnout.
You may be juggling competing demands, managing others, or feeling constantly “on”.
Together, we can pause, reflect, and regain balance, helping you to find ways to respond differently to pressure and reconnect with what matters.
Anxiety and overthinking
Anxiety can present as constant worry, racing thoughts, and a difficulty relaxing.
You may also have a persistent sense that something isn’t quite right.
Together, we work to understand the patterns, triggers, and underlying experiences that fuel anxiety, helping you feel calmer, clearer, and more in control.
Depression and low mood
Low mood or depression can make everyday life feel heavier than it should.
You may feel disconnected, unmotivated, or no longer enjoy things in the same way.
Together, we explore what may be contributing to this and take practical, manageable steps towards feeling more grounded and supported.

Person-centred therapy is a counselling approach that focuses on understanding your thoughts and feelings in a supportive, non-judgemental environment.
Rather than being told what to do, you are supported to explore your experience at your own pace, helping you develop greater clarity, self-awareness, and confidence in your decisions. This approach is widely used for anxiety, stress, low mood, and personal development.
